THE CHALLENGE
Implement a unified digital ecosystem to enable brand building through marketing content and design.

Although Avatria had previously migrated the client’s B2B Customer Portal to Emporix, AmerCareRoyal (ACR) continued hosting their informational site on Shopify, which did not offer the robust CMS capabilities needed by the client, limiting their marketing team in terms of content creation, design customization, and autonomy. This site, which consisted of their product catalog and marketing content, was a crucial public-facing touchpoint in their digital presence.

ACR’s marketing team’s needs had simply outgrown what Shopify was capable of—they needed to be able to control and configure almost every aspect of the informational site without developer support. Typical needs included:

  • Publish marketing content such as blogs, videos, industry insights, and press and news releases

  • Creating dynamic product pages for their ever growing list of products and brands

  • UI and UX changes based on testing and industry trends

  • Design tweaks of aspects such as fonts, colors, and object placement

Due to the successful migration of their B2B portal and productive working relationship, ACR asked Avatria to help identify and implement a more flexible solution that could meet their marketing team’s needs.

PROJECT DETAILS

Having already gone through the successful process of building their B2B platform on Zocalo with a stack of Emporix as the backend commerce platform, Pimcore as the PIM, and Elastic Cloud as the search engine, it was an obvious decision to leverage this stack for the information site as well. This would both meet project requirements—supporting a dynamic product catalog and multi-faceted search capabilities—and allow the project to leverage existing expertise and already-built code in order to expedite the implementation process.
Given the scope of the marketing teams needs, Avatria and ACR quickly determined that a fully self-managed CMS platform would be needed. With these considerations in mind, Builder.io, an industry-leading MACH platform, was identified as the best option due to its flexibility, robust feature set, and ability to integrate with the client’s other tools.
With the tools selected, the core work required was to stand up a new Builder.io space, and develop the necessary extensions to the Zocalo Storefront to meet ACR's new design & experience.
Our Role
In addition to providing strategic leadership, Avatria played key roles in technical and functional architecture, project management, engineering, and QA. Our contributions consisted of:
  • Working collaboratively with client IT teams to architect and develop all integrations—with Pimcore and Emporix for product syndication, Builder.io for marketing content syndication, and Elastic Cloud to elevate search capabilities.
  • Partnering with the marketing and visual design teams to design the site experience and build out both reusable and visually customizable CMS components.
  • Providing functional and technical guidance on product syndication in order to display a thorough and detailed product catalog.
  • Supporting and training all content authors.
RESULTS
A fully supported and functional CMS in 4 months

Relying on past experience and a strong working relationship, we were able to launch the Builder.io-based information site in just 4 months. The new infrastructure delivered on all of the goals we set out for, providing the marketing team with more autonomy and flexibility, faster turnaround times for content production, and the ability to make design changes in minutes, rather than weeks or months.
